Local dog training you can trust

Off Leash K9 Training Boise trains dogs in Nampa and across Canyon County.

Nampa is one of the Canyon County towns we serve. Owners here choose between private obedience lessons, where you learn alongside your dog, and board and train, where a pro trainer does the heavy lifting first. Every program and price is on our plans and pricing page.

Why it matters

Why professional training is essential for Nampa dog owners

Behavior modification

Address jumping, pulling, barking, anxiety, and reactivity at the root, not just the symptom.

Safety & control

A dog that listens the first time is a safer dog around traffic, livestock, wildlife, and people.

Stronger bond

Clear communication builds trust, so your dog looks to you for direction instead of guessing.

Skills that transfer

We hand the training over to you at pickup, so the obedience keeps working at home.

Family harmony

A calm, well-mannered dog means a calmer home for kids, guests, and other pets alike.

What we offer

  • E-collar and 15-foot leash included

Board & train

Your dog boards and trains with a pro trainer, then you get a one-on-one session before they come home.

  • One, two and three-week programs
  • Off-leash recall around distractions
  • Greeting, door and meal manners
See board & train →

Reactive & aggressive dogs

An eight-lesson program for dogs that react to other dogs, with lessons around other dogs in different scenarios.

Training in Nampa

Built for how Nampa dogs actually live

Lakeview Park, downtown Nampa and the shores of Lake Lowell all come with distractions: other dogs, people, bikes and waterfowl. Pulling on the leash, lunging or bolting are the problems we hear about most.

We train for those moments, so the obedience holds up outside and not only at home. Our lessons cover come, sit, down, place, loose-leash walking and off, and include an e-collar and a 15-foot leash. For a dog that reacts to other dogs, the Aggressive/Reactive Dog Training program adds lessons working around other dogs.

Short on time? The 1 Week “Freedom” Board & Train covers come, sit, place, off, loose-leash walking and house manners in one week, on leash, and is often booked a couple of months ahead, so call before you plan around it.

Where your dog will shine

  • Lakeview Park
  • Downtown Nampa sidewalks
  • The shores of Lake Lowell
  • Neighborhood walks
  • Visitors at the front door

Who you will be working with

Megan Klawiter has been a dog owner and enthusiast her whole life. At 16 she talked her family into a Great Dane puppy, and working out how to give that dog the best life is what sent her into training as a career. She started in the dog training industry in 2012.

She runs Off Leash K9 Training Boise with Paul Klawiter, a professional trainer since 2013 whose work has included service dogs, confidence building and helping dogs that needed a second chance. Megan's favorite part of the job is teaching owners how to build their bond with their dog through training.

Frequently asked questions

Do you train dogs from Nampa?

Yes. Nampa is one of the Treasure Valley towns we serve. Lessons are by appointment, and we set the place with you when you book. We usually train somewhere other than your living room on purpose: a dog that learns to listen with real distractions around listens everywhere. See the Basic Obedience lessons for what is covered.

How does board and train work?

Your dog boards with a pro trainer and trains every day, for one, two or three weeks. You then get a one-on-one session that shows you what your dog learned and how to handle them: 1.5 hours after the one-week Freedom program and 2 hours after the 2 Week Board & Train. The one-week program is on-leash only.

How old does my dog need to be?

We start e-collar training at five months old. If your dog is younger, call us and we will tell you what fits.

How much does dog training cost?

Private lessons are $675 for four and $975 for eight, and the eight-lesson Aggressive/Reactive program is $1,000. Board and train is $1,800 for one week, $2,900 for two weeks and $4,350 for three. Every program is listed on our plans and pricing page. Payment plans are available. Call us today to learn more about payment options.

Will the e-collar hurt my dog?

No. At our first meeting we put the e-collar on your arm so you can feel how mild it is. We use it to get your dog's attention, like a tap on the shoulder, never as punishment. Lesson packages include the e-collar and a 15-foot leash.
